Ash Bowland

Curators, Dries Segers

Since 2012 Ash Bowland creates the project ‘Le donner à voir’. In this work she devides several ‘Cases’, images that research the meta picture, the picture, meta and every -ture connected to it.
At the surface you see beautiful constructed photographic mise-en-scènes, mostly with characters where Ash is one of them. If you read them closely you feel embodied spirits that on one part research what it is to be an image, to be questioned, read, being made, being misunderstood and reproduced again.

Journal d’images et de mots

Ash Bowland her images don’t come easily. They need time to be fed. The images below function as research, as food for the actual work. The development to a ‘Case’ is not a usual way of making photographs. Ash works as a writer: building up, breaking down, rewriting, taking another view, another house, a new character.
